Saas-Almagell (1,672 m) sits at the southern end of the Saas Valley in Valais. Official destination material frames it as a quieter overnight base than car-free Saas-Fee, with local access to Mattmark, the Furggstalden / Heidbodmen lifts, and marked walks — including more demanding routes such as the Adventure Trail.
This homepage is the front door. Specialist guides own season detail, place logistics and activity depth. The notes below cover car-free arrival into the Saas Valley.
Car-free arrival pattern
Most public-transport itineraries reach the Saas Valley via rail toward Visp, then PostBus up the valley. There is no train station in Saas-Almagell or Saas-Fee. Always build the door-to-door chain in the official SBB planner for your exact travel date, and treat any undated “typical hours” claim as outdated until checked.
Once you are in the valley, local hops between Saas-Almagell, Saas-Grund and Saas-Fee are usually PostBus journeys. Partner overnight guests may use in-valley PostBus under published SaastalCard summer/autumn terms, but arrival and departure legs are excluded on those terms (checked 2026-10-20). Read SaastalCard and Getting around before you assume buses are free.
Drivers can enter the valley by road; Saas-Fee’s centre is car-free, so parking and shuttle rules differ from Saas-Almagell. Compare bases on Saas-Almagell vs Saas-Fee if that choice is still open.
